Oral and maxillofacial surgery requires additional years of hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training after graduation from dental school. For Dr. Konys, this meant a comprehensive four year surgical residency at Boston City Hospital, Tufts New England Medical Center, and Boston University Medical Center. As an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, Dr. Konys manages a wide variety of problems relating to the mouth, teeth and facial regions. He practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from simple tooth extractions and wisdom tooth removal to dental implant surgery and procedures designed to rebuild bone structure. In addition, he can also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and fractures.
Most of our procedures can be completed comfortably with local anesthesia. However, for those who are a little anxious about their visit with us, intravenous (IV) sedation usually does the trick. If you choose IV sedation for your visit, rest assured that our staff is well trained, and has years of experience in assisting with this type of anesthesia. In addition, all of our patients are continuously monitored during and after surgery, using the same equipment that is commonly found in any hospital.
Whether you are visiting for a simple consultation or a complex surgical procedure, please know that Dr. Konys and his staff treat everyone the same way that they would want to be treated. You should feel like a guest in our home every single time that you visit us.
