Why is it better to come in for a consultation visit prior to scheduling a treatment visit?

By coming in for a consultation visit prior to the treatment visit it will allow you to meet us in a non-threatening environment prior to the day of treatment. Whereas most patients feel comfortable with their general dentist and may have a long-standing relationship with that dentist, when they are referred here, they are meeting us for the first time. Many times patients are apprehensive about the proposed treatment and seeing a different dentist. The consultation allows us time to address concerns or questions you may have rather than simply jumping into treatment. It allows you to become fully informed about what is involved in the treatment, have questions answered and make a decision without feeling pressured. It allows time for Dr. Katsarsky to contact your dentist if there are any questions about future treatment plans, restorability, periodontal status, etc. It allows Dr. Katsarsky time to review medications, medical history and consult with your physician or dentist if necessary. It allows you time to review the fee and payment options and arrange a payment method that will be comfortable for you. It gives Dr. Katsarsky time to investigate the possibility that there are other treatment options instead of root canal treatment available for you. Finally, people who come in for a consultation first and then return for the treatment visit on another day frequently report a much better overall experience.
